A better volume, which you might be able to get through inter-library loan, or find at a good university library is Francis Grose's A PROVINCIAL GLOSSARY;With a Collection of Local Proverbs and Popular Superstitions.
It was first published in 1787 and republished numerous times, before Pierce Egan re-edited it around 1821. I have an original 1811 copy, which I'll probably be republishing at some point in the future (no plans yet).
It's well worth seeking out because it also has sections on Omens portending death, sypmathetic magic, Charm Lore, Second Sight, Cures and preventatives, Fairylove, Sorcery, Magicians, Witchcraft, Ghostlore, etc.
There are a few other original copies I've seen on the internet in the price range of 90 pounds up to 275 dollars. If you're really into language, it's worth the expense. But, if you can find it in a library
it won't cost you anything but time.
