] The first thing that popped into my mind was a pen knife. When folded, they are only about 2-2 1/2 inches long.
This sounds wonderful--I'm heading to my antique books now. . .About how much longer would a pen knife be when not folded? And what kind of blade does it have? What I'm picturing is the kind of blade on a crafter's blade/knife.
And we all know Caroline Bingley was precisely the type to find a vile use for such an innocent instrument.
