You're right - it is fascinating & I thank you for the further information, but... it should not be read by the faint of heart :) We recently visited the Mayflower II & were told that they dumped their waste into the bottom of the boat. We thought the people were insane to live under these conditions, but the article shows that they were used to living this way.
