To L and T indexThe class system was practiced by England long after our Civil War was over. In fact while watching a documentary on Titanic it was pointed out that after its sinking the English people, and the rest of the world, were so appauled by the treatment of the 3rd class passengers that the practice of a "class" structure was done away with. In fact, a larger percentage of 1st class men survived than 3rd class children. A very sombering thought, indeed.
Class systems are not unique to the Am So or England, let's not forget. It has been practiced forever and is still practiced today. I think a society is finally grown when it gives up this way of life.
IMHO
