To L and T index ] I've been on some ships at historical sites and it must have been grim. At Mystic Seaport we were told that whaling ships often were at sea for 2-5 years before returning home. I suppose an intrepid wife would rather go along and be uncomfortable than be left alone.

This is a little off the subject, but isn't Mystic great? i just got back. Don't you remember in the CHARLES MORGON, there was a day cabin for the chaptain's wife right on deck for when she got sea sick.
