To L and T indexI'm not sure what it is exactly what you and Roger are talking about so please forgive me. Are you talking about a carriage road and the ruts being made by the wheels? If that is the case, I would think that the horse's hoofs would make it difficult for the grass to grow in the center if the road was well trafficked. You don't think so? But then perhaps all the manure which inevitably falls might give the grass that extra edge it needs! Also, the Oregon Trail's ruts by now must have had plenty of time to grow back the center grass and weeds, wouldn't you think? You can also see the wagon trails from the Simi Valley Freeway just North of L.A. in southern California if you are ever in the area. They are very well preserved. This is an oddly interesting subject. If you're gonna write it right I think that sort of information could come in handy.
