Is it just me, or does the dedication for "Emma" sound just a wee bit sarcastic? How many times did she need to say "Royal Highness", and the bit about "Obidient Servant" when she was arm twisted into dedicating it to him?--who refuses the ruler of the country!
(I know "Your Obidient Servant" is the proper form of address when signing off a letter to the monarch even today. I believe Margaret Thatcher's reluctance to do so was rumored to be a bone of contention between her and LizII.)
