I'm pretty much absolutely certain that no special accomodation would have been made at that time for scandalously subversive aberrations such as atheists and deists, if none was made for dissenters and Catholics. 
What I had in mind when I said "Christians" is that I'm not sure whether they made Jews go through with a marriage ceremony in CofE churches to have their marriage be offically recognized (as they made all others do)...
