The thing about all of this is that not everybody did the same thing. It varied a LOT from country to country, from class to class, from fashionable flirt to motherly matron. Just like now--if you were to take, say, the way people dress on Melrose Place as The Way People Dressed in the 1990s. . . or worse yet, MTV videos . . .
In short, it's all correct information regarding someone!
