To L and T index] Catholic weddings usually include a nuptial mass, and until Vatican II one had to fast before communion not just for one hour, but from the midnight before. This would make late weddings really problematic, unless there was no mass. (...) Unless, of course, the priest waived the fasting rule, which I've never heard of in such cases.


It sounds very logical and reasonable. This calls for an extreme measure: I'll consult my grandmother. Wish me luck! It might take me some time to unentangle myself from her remembrances! ;-)
