The Waters At Bath

I know that the subject of Bath and bathing there has been taken up numerous times on this board, but my question has to do with more modern times.
I seem to remember seeing something on public television (possibly as long as 10 years ago) about the discovery of a dreadful meningitis-causing bacteria in the waters at Bath.
In the process of hunting down this deadly "bug," a number of discoveries were made about the Roman origins of the baths, the exact details of which I can't remember.
I think I also remember that the "bug" was successfully dealt with. it's a good thing it didn't show up in JA's time, because if it had, "taking the waters" in the hope of improved health would have had precisely the opposite effect!
Does anyone have any more information about this?
