] I've seen it "Persuasion" and "S&S": it looks like a tin salt shaker and is used while writing. What is it?
Don't know the name, don't have the scenes readily in mind, but it undoubtedly is used to sprinkle sand on fresh ink to dry it up & prevent smudging. You see this in a lot of good period films.
