To L and T index ] So..was the church actually the 'property' of the master of the manner, and was it maintained by him financially, or was it financed by the parishioners through donations?

I don't have that particular information at my fingertips (nor is it an area of particular interest for me). Generally, I believe the church would be maintained throught the parishioners' donations, with a very heavy emphasis upon the generosity of the "master of the manor." I don't believe the church itself, or its property, would belong to his lordship, but rather that person had the right to name the vicar. Some additional information can be found in the L&T Archives, to which I have added a link.
