] The presentation of a candidate for a vacant living in the Church of England was a piece of property like any other, to be bought and sold. This arose because the churches were connected with the villages which they served, and belonged to the Lord of the Manor.
So..was the church actually the 'property' of the master of the manner, and was it maintained by him financially, or was it financed by the parishioners through donations?
