(I have no idea if anyone will read this, since I'm writing it so long after the original post, but here goes!)

OK, this is way out of the era of the Regency, but I once watched "The Quiet Man," with John Wayne and . . . oh, blast! I've forgotten her name. Well, maybe will come back to me as I write this. Anyway, it takes place in Ireland, and at one point after John Wayne and his beloved are engaged, she expains to him the rules of courting in Ireland, which are quite strict. I don't know if this applies to the period or to England, but, hey!

I'll let you know if I ever remember the girl's name. (I believe she also played Maid Marian in "The Adventures of Robin Hood," with Errol Flynn. Does this help?)
