Militia Ranks

The militia used the same rank system as the army. Thus the rank above Ensign would be Lieutenant. I've attached a link to one of my earlier posting giving a more detailed list. I don't have specific details on Militia units in England, but those of Upper Canada were based on the British model. One does find Lieutenants and "Second Lieutenants" in some Militia Artillery companies (a branch which was not considered one for "gentlemen").
