it's fun to see all of the regency-style evening gowns available today -- presumably inspired by the recent austen films, particularly "emma."
in addition to being nearly obsessed with the regency, i've long been interested in the broad span of costume history. i was fortunate enough to buy a number of patterns, including the empire dress, from folkwear before the company went defunct. but there are a number of pattern companies that are reproducing period patterns today -- they concentrate on the victorian era, but many have patterns dating back to the 1770s. you can find a list of period pattern sources at www.teasociety.com/victorian/guide/patterns.html.
