In response to Weather records: Help!, written by Linden on May 28, 1998 at 20:06:19
There are no systematic weather records that early. Contemporary diaries will give local observations for a particular locality, eg Parson Woodeford, and Bills of Mortality record the effects on disease and death. The effects on mortality were enhanced during the napoleonic Wars as Britain was cut off from its traditional external supplies of grain from the Baltic. Five times during the War the harvest failed, and people starved.
