To L and T indexI don't think you're getting obsessive - I do think she probably had a calendar in her hand, as you say, but she need not have intended the book to be set in the year she had the calendar for, if you see what I mean: it could just be that she wanted to ensure the kind of accuracy about dates that you commented on in your post. Actually I'm quite glad that we don't have a definite calendrical structure for P&P - my graduate work is on sequences of poetry which do sometimes have elaborate calendrical dating... which leads to all kinds of loony theories about the significance of the numbers involved. Luckily no-one has yet come up with a numerological reading of P&P!
