I am used to seeing several trinkets tied to ribbons placed under the cake. the trinkets are hidden under the cake itself and the ribbons extend outward, draping on the table. All the women come and pick a ribbon to gently pull. the one who gets the ring will be the next married, a rattle means a baby, etc etc...very sweet moments!
