Napolean & Wellington

To L and T indexDid anyone happen to see this double-biography on Sunday night on A&E. I saw the first 45 minutes and taped the rest. It takes the view that N&W were bound to cross paths with each other eventually.

The show is done in typical biography style, talking with experts, pictures of the N&W, and in some cases, battle re-enactors.

The similarities in their background (both from impoverished aristocratic families), schooling/military training (both at French military academies, although the two schools never engaged in competition so they did not meet as youngsters), early military success (Napoleon at Alexandria, Wellington in India), early reforms in the Army (Napoleon in Italy, Wellington in India)unhappy/rocky marriages (Josephine & Katherine ?)were covered in the first 45 minutes, along with their differences Napolean, with a sponge like brain obsorbing everything, Wellington the indifferent scholar, Napoleon being euphoric after battle, Wellington depressed.

A&E does have a video version of this show, if anyone is interested.
