To L and T index ] Hi, I am currently teaching Pride and Prejudice to high school freshman. I want to have a "social" where the students will attempt to emulate the social mileau of Austen's time. I would appreciate suggestions regarding games, food, costumes, manners and conversation. Please remember that I am limited by time and budget. Thanks!

I know that what you really wanted was advice about what to do, but I thought I would tell you that I love your idea. I am a high school student myself and I would really love that. I had to read all my Jane Austen stuff on my own but I would have loved to have had a teacher that did that with one of my classes.
