] Can anyone tell me what rose buttons for dancing slippers are? It is at the end of a chapter where it has been raining all weekend before the Netherfield ball, and the women had to obtain them by proxy. Jill
THank you forgetting back to me, and that has answered part of my question. Now, can you tell me what was the purpose, for it seems that there must be some other reason than just decoration for them. Or were they just got by proxy because of the bad weather, the girls couldn't get to the shop to personally select the ribbon, so they were delivered by the clerks. Or was this a custom where the host of the party sent them out? Thanks
