] Ever wondered why people lose their accent when they sing? I always reckon that the kiwi accent is pretty close to the world's 'singing accent'.

The influence of Kiri Te Kanawa, perhaps? ;-)

Does this mean that in the future when we all speak a universal English it will be like the Kiwi accent? Hope so :-)

It's started in England already - in the South East, the cockney-in-origin "common" accent has begun to aqcuire a definite Antipodean twang through the influence of imported TV.

Much as I'd like to go on, I fear this is getting off-subject!
