] I think duets existed before Jane Austen's time. I remember seeing a picture of Mozart and his sister at the piano. Nannerl had "big hair" and an impossibly placed ribbon. However, Mozart was a professional.


This may be the director's little invention, but in the recent Tom Jones miniseries on A&E, Tom and Sophy had quite a steamy session at the piano. I would check the book (which I would, if I had it!) and then bear in mind that the morals of 1743 were a little looser than 60 years later.
