I love the gentility of those times, the lovely manners and marvelous skill in the use of language -- the enjoyment that seems to permeate the balls -- the lovely dancing, all those social graces. But. I have low toleration for obsequiousness, any type of servility, and as some one has stated: We might well be one of the servants if we were back in those times. Societal stratification is not the best deald that humans have structured.
