In response to Aussie English is closer to Brit English by far! , written by Leanne S on April 20, 1998 at 11:50:05] Definitely British English. We retain the same spellings (although American spellings are creeping in. We spell sulphur "sulfur" now, f'instance. Well, some Aussies do, anyway.) and we have the same basis in slang (mostly Cockney based). We'll just have to wait and see what happens when Australia becomes a Republic :)
Thanks. I think that sulfur/sulphur has been changed universally actually - at least, that is what one of my chemistry lecturers said.Phil
