A list of nursery rhymes would be very interesting... I am fascinated by the way politics becomes the stuff of children's play (some might say, it already is ;-) ). But I'll skip the ballads...
And there is one in Lark Rise which goes something like
Queen, Queen Caroline
Dipped her head in turpentine...
