Mr Webster made it "Zee" because the greek letter it comes from ends in an open vowel ,or something, whilst if you say "zed", it's the only one that ends in a closed sound.To be honest, I cannot remember the whole thing, Kate, I was negotiating traffic at the time! I have always said "Zed, anyway, because if you are going to end the alphabet, you may as well sound like it! ;-)
