Jane's use of "sensible" is the subject of some discussion in the literature, but her using "sensible" in the absolute appears to mean what you think it means i. e. possessing good sense. HOWEVER, her using it as an adverb, "sensibly," appears to sometimes have the other meaning of sensitive, aware, etc. I urge you to consult the Oxford English Dictionary although it's perhaps a bit of overkill in this particular matter.
