I think Spaniels, Terriers and Beagles would be kept for their work ethic.I could be wrong so don't quote but I think English Springers would flush out the birds, the terriors the rats and the beagles the fox. Throw in a pug (or other small thing)* or two as lap dogs. Et volia Laura Ashley!

Lets not forget Labs, to bring in the birds, (and to save the dalmations)
*I like Cavaliers
