] I did find it amusing, and I thought helpful, but don't want to be misled.

I'm only about halfway though the book and I'm enjoying it. My one complaint is that it only touches on some subjects, giving only the most necessary of facts, and rambles about others. I feel as though the author was too lazy to properly research some things. But it's a fun read if you accept its entertainment value and leave it at that.

] Do we have many Dickens fans here.

I love Dickens and have an inexplicable weakness for that era. Maybe I was there? Ooooh scary!;-)
