How, exactly, are you going to define as kissing in public, Greg?The book says that the proposal happens in the garden at Highbury. KB and MS are definitely in the garden...hardly in public.In Emma2, it happens..where? Hard to tell, but they are secluded.Maybe not the garden, but hardly in public.( KB1, GP1)But I agree, Gwyneth should never have taken her hat off and walked home without it's protection. No wonder she looks too tanned!

As for ladies and gentlemen not kisssing until they are at least engaged,I think human nature doesn't change greatly from generation to generation, do you?My seven year old thinks kissing spreads germs, but it doesn't stop him indulging.....
