Nope, civil registration of marriage (regularly recording the marriage anywhere other than the register of the church where the ceremony was performed) didn't come in until the 1840's or 1850's, and civil marriage itself (i.e. going to a judge instead of a clergyman to tie the knot) didn't come in until even later, I think...
Even before civil registration, there were "marriage lines", a kind of document which served as a legal attestation of marriage, but they were optional, and the average couple in average circumstances probably wouldn't have needed them...
