It brought to mind a previous post of Caroline's which featured a wonderful jigsaw puzzle that seemed to be the surprise of everyone. And Marie Bernadette! You have this book too! How could you miss this!
Well, Patricia, I haven't yet read the Stone book cover-to-cover. My mother still has it but she has been busy and hasn't finished it. I read all the 'naughty' bits (of course!) and when it is returned to me I'll read the rest.
There is a book we bought for our daughter called Games From Long Ago by Bobbie Kalman, Illustrated by Barbara Bedell(Crabtree Publishing Co., ISBN 0-86505-482-7). It mentions Battledore and Shuttlecock, Graces, marbles, parlour games and more. It says these games are from the 19th century, but doesn't always specify what year, so some may have been played during the Regency and some might be Victorian. It is very nicely illustrated.
