You used to be able to sue for "breach of promise". I believe Elton John was the last person in Britain to be successfully sued for this!

Really?! But I take it divorce doesn't take an act of Parliament anymore? I think the US has some old laws still hanging around that lawyers connive to use in off the wall cases.
