] I am making a Regancy costume, but am having trouble with the fabric. I watched P+P2 to get an idea of pattern and there seemed to be a lot of print. I had thought that at that time fabric had to be woven and so stripes were possible, but not prints or florals. Besides the pattern choice I would be grateful for any suggestions on fabric type. This is to be a day dress not evening wear. Thanks for any information you can give me. -Bethany

Bethany, I'm sure you've already been informed but I'll talk about this anyway. There were a great many calico and other small print fabrics in use at the time. Prints were very possible - had been for quite a while. This was nearly universal. Thanks would've gone, in large part, to the U.S. slaves - they picked the cotton. Not all, but a great deal.
