I was explaining why it possibibly wouldn't make it in to the bibliography. It's fine to ask about it on this Board. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
Anyone can post anything they think is relevant onto this board.(think about it- I'm not controlling anyone here!)Nothing is deleted, unless either it is extremely offensive, or if the poster him/herself requests that be deleted. If some of the posts seem to some people to be a little off track, then they can ignore them! My personal feeling is that they can be useful for comparison: if not now, then certainly in six months time! The bibliography is somewhat different. It was started specifically as a way of learning more about Jane Austen and her times.Contibutions are made to the bibliography by posting a review on the board, saying why it's worth reading, or e-mailing me with a review. And so far, I haven't seen one on this book! If I get one from someone who thinks it does fit the bill, I'll put it in.I'm not in a position myself to buy all the books I'd like to see, or even to get them through inter-library loan, and anyway, the bib. is a group effort, so it shouldn't be too full of my opinion only.
If I include all the biographies of famous persons like Wellington, Napoleon, Nelson, all the military strategy and military history books of the period, all the books that span all of the nineteeth century, all the books about nineteenth century literature, all the "how-to" writer's guides on the Regency/Victorian period that are known, whethter in print or not, I'd end up with a huge list of books that wouldn't necessarily help our understanding of JA any more than a short list would. My personal opinion is that a short ,narrowly defined list is more usable.I'd like to repeat...It's fine to discuss this book here.
As for your comments about the administration and costs of this board, I can assure you that we have been looking into alternatives for a long time, and our present parent server, Shore .net, is not only extremely obliging, helpful and adaptable ,but also the best deal we have ever found anywhere, and we are very happy with them.Anyone who has any suggestions for helping with the financial situation of Pemberley may discuss it with any committee member, at any time, by e-mail (and if you cannot find our e-mail anywhere, just put up a call for them to e-mail you!)
