I have seen very brief references to occasions when the students actually rioted. One was at Rugby in 1797; when the headmaster locked his doors, the students blew them in with gunpowder. Harrow saw a "mutiny" in 1808, and the militia was called in the quell a distrubance at Eton. Does anyone have details on any of these?
