Jan 26th is St Steve's day (Good King Wenceslas,and all that).St Steve is patron saint of horses, therefore this is the day for Hunting! The boxes with the Christmas Bonus were not really associated with the 26th until well into the industrial revolution.Before then they were just Christmas boxes, though I suppose they didn't open them till after Christmas...
