David Nokes' book

To L and T indexI've just finished reading his book and feel that in several instances he did not correctly interpret Jane's tone, or way of expressing herself. The 'wild beast' quotation, in particular, I thought was misapplied. Having said that, his contention that the gap in her writing was due to her being busily happy, rather than unhappy, in Bath and the impetus for her writing was closely tied to to economic need, I thought was very plausible. What do others think of this book?
