The politics were fascinating and the clothes pretty and the social machinations would put our petty scandals to shame, all of which would make The Regency fun place to visit. But I wouldn't want to live there. I can't imagine surviving without penicillin and modern dentistry and Advil- not to mention satellite weather warning systems (I live in South Dakota).

Luckily for us- those portions of the Regency that were most worthy of preservation (the books, for example) are still here for us to enjoy and discuss (that's right- no computers back then either) in climate controlled comfort.
