I do, too, until I remember that I would most likely have been among the tenant farmers, and possibly sent into service at an early age. Even had I been among the gentry, as a woman I wouldn't have had very many options. Overall, while the Regency seems a pretty enough time to visit, I probably fit best into the current era!

I concur, Kathleen (elder). It's easy to get swept in the romance of the era, in its entirety; and then you start to think about the things you'd miss. RoP being one of them. I have a literary work in progress that deals with the issues of a 20th century woman being catapulted back to Regency times, her feminist values and all--of course there is conflict and frustration, especially in dealing with a very Darcy/Rochester/Heathcliff type hero. *grin*
