Q about "Lobscouse and Spotted Dog" cookbook

Posted by Carolyn B on March 15, 1998 at 10:11:32:

To L and T indexI assume there are enough Patrick O'Brian fans here that the new cookbook "Lobscouse and Spotted Dog" has been discussed (though my quick search on the title words in Archives didn't kick up anything). I came across an article in a back issue of the Washington Post describing the authors cooking these foods and that led me to the website linked below.

My question: Has anyone tried these recipes? Because I gotta say some of them sound reeeally disgusting ; P

The puddings didn't look that bad actually (though I'm still trying to make up my mind about the spotted dog.)

The authors do warn that the food is not for the faint of heart or those trying to watch their diet. (Hey, I've eaten raw fish and seaweed and squid before but that portable soup looks particularly squidgy....)
