Anybody read Woodson's "Drinkwater" series?

Patrick O'Brian's books sound a bit like Richard Woodson's. Does anyone read the Drinkwater series? I am not a naval history expert, but I recently picked up a copy of The Corvett and was captivated.
Is is work historically accurate? It seemed so to me. Of the two, who is better? Snarkhunter, this is up your alley, perhaps?????
