In response to Bodiced Petticoat, written by Marie Bernadette on March 04, 1998 at 11:30:01

To L and T index ] I made a 'bodiced petticoat' (or petticoat bodice) from the La Mode Bagatelle pattern. It is much easier to make than a corset and more comfortable, too.

Careful about this garment--it's not historical. Mind you, it's a great garment (I made one too); it's very convenient and nicely designed. But I asked the Mode Bagatelle women about it first, and they said that they made it up. That is, the idea of boning the bodice is a modern substitute for a corset.

If the bodice were looser and the boning omitted, it would be accurate as a petticoat bodice. It would be nice if the pattern was clearer about this, but it's a minor quibble with an otherwise nifty pattern.
