I think that Mrs. Elton would like to move him to a fashionable London parish, where he could leave all the parish management to the curate and preach florid sermons drawing crowds once a month... But in reality, he probably has a book of 'The best sermons of 1810' at home and reads them out, claiming them for his own work... and she would not like him to sully his hands by visiting the poor... Don't you think that she would be pulling the strings?
