Pride and Prejudice: women and marriage?

Hi everyone,
I've got to write a paper about Pride and prejudice.
I picked up the topic: marrige for women. ...Well, I
am comparing Jane's and Charlotte's views for marriage.
Then, I don't know how marriage is so important for women.
I think since women had no power over men or in the society,
they had to rely on their husband's power. ...but I need a
proof!!
Please help me out! My paper due date is soon.
