White foundation

I remember seeing some passing references in some books I was just scanning. I'll see if I can find them again. I do remember reading awhile back that some people-think it was men and women--tried to cover up pock marks with a white foundation that contained lead! This invariably resulted in the wearer becoming ill from its poisoning affects. EL
