In response to Fanney Burney's stint at court, written by Lesley on February 12, 1998 at 00:33:40
Our Fanny married a romantic, peniless, emigré Vicomte, Lesley. They subsisted on her pension of $300 a year, and he took to gardening, but pulled up all her asparagus because he thought it was a weed, if you are to belive her diaries( and why not?:-) )
It's also mentioned in the Jane Austen Household Book, in the bib.
